Project Details:
The Pinderfields Hospital development provides a new 88,000m2 acute inpatient hospital comprising 46 departments and 708 beds. The design, by, BDP, splits the building in two with a ‘hard’ clinical side facing in to the
existing hospital grounds and a ‘soft’ wards side facing out to the roads and residential areas.
Marlborough’s package included 11,000m2 of facing brickwork, including large cut brick panels, most striking on the 25m high south elevation. The scheme posed a number of challenges, not least the maintenance of control systems for H&S and quality on such a large busy site (at its peak there were over 1000 operatives working on the site), and complicated interfaces with other envelope trades such as cedar boarding, render and cladding. The clients were delighted with the quality of Marlborough’s finished product and on the back of this Marlborough went on to secure the masonry contract on P21 Pinderfields Education Centre.
