Marlborough has been awarded a £350,000 brickwork and blockwork package from ISG to build a new leisure centre in Stechford, Birmingham. The Contract is a repeat award from ISG following the successful completion of Bloxwich Leisure in Walsall.
The project which began in August 2016 sees ISG constructing a new leisure centre to replace the adjacent existing Cascades Leisure Centre on Station Road, Stechford which was built in the early 60’s.
The new build consists of a 25m long six lane swimming pool, a separate learner pool, 4 court sports hall, dance studio, and fitness suite all with supporting changing facilities. The reception area combines with a café area which provides views into the pool hall and also extends into an open external terrace area.
As the location of the new leisure centre is on sloping contours, the facilities are designed over three floor levels to complement the natural change in levels of the site.
The building is a steel frame construction which is enclosed in a range of finishes including brickwork, cladding, curtain walling and windows.
The Marlborough Team will be led by Noel Ryan with Tim Lynch, Project Manager and Steve Fozzard, Commercial Manager. Noel commented, “We have a track record of consistent and quality delivery which is resulting in repeat business. The Marlborough team is committed to the successful delivery of this project and we are delighted to be working with ISG Project Manager, John Holder, again”
The scheme is a 20 week programme and will be completed in May 2017.
